Lexington Announces New Head Boys Basketball Coach

The Lexington Activities Department is proud to announce the hiring of Tyler Slechta as the new Head Coach of the Lexington Minutemen Basketball Team.

Coach Slechta graduated from Adams Central High School in 2021.  He was a multi-sport athlete, having a successful high school career in football, basketball and track where he helped lead both Adams Central football and basketball to a Class C1 runner up finish as a team captain. Tyler’s ability to lead with confidence and by example on the basketball court and football field have provided him with many valuable skills necessary as he takes on the new role of head coach.

We are pleased that our basketball program will build on the tradition that was established by our previous coaches, and fully expect Coach Slechta to excel as our new leader.  Tyler has great knowledge of the game and brings a ton of passion to the basketball court. The future of the boys basketball program is very bright with Coach Slechta leading the way.

Tyler will be replacing Zach Jones, who has announced his resignation as Head Coach.  Coach Jones served the Minutemen as head coach from November of 2017 until the conclusion of this past season (six years).  His overall record as Head Coach is 54-90.  Zach led LHS to two consecutive district finals games, and two consecutive winning seasons in 2018-19 & 2019-2020.  He has always shown a passion for building relationships with his players, and has proven to be a talented and knowledgeable coach.  The Lexington Athletic Department wishes to thank him for his many years of dedicated service.  He served as an assistant boys basketball coach in the 2016-17 season, and before that served a few years as an assistant varsity girls coach.
