Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the anatomy and physiology classes have been learning about the heart, blood, and the arteries and veins. After learning the structures of the heart such as the atria, ventricles, Atrioventricular valves, pulmonic and aortic semilunar valves students dissected hearts from cows, pigs, cats, and some donated deer hearts from local hunters. Additionally, students learned how your heart generates a heart beat and maintains blood pressure. The anatomy students learned how to take blood pressure and the nursing students that were taking anatomy really showed off their skills with a sphygmomanometer. So when you think anatomy class is hard because the teacher is heartless remember that he does have one, it is just in a bucket waiting to get cut up.
