Intro to Athletic Training has started off the second semester strong with 12 new students. Students have been learning about a number of different topics relating to athletic training during the first few weeks of the semester. They spent the last week learning the basics of conducting a proper injury evaluation. The National Athletic Trainers Association recognizes injury evaluation as the second domain of athletic training, and it is a vital part of the athletic training field. Students have been studying the HOPS method, which stands for History, Observation, Palpation, and Special Tests. Not only have students been learning about the HOPS method, they have been putting it into practice by doing mock injury evaluations with their classmates. Learning these skills now, will help the students as we begin to learn about specific injuries that can affect each area of the body.
