          Next school year the honors math classes at LHS will be dual credit enrollment through Central Community College. Those classes will include College Algebra Honors (3 credit hours), Advanced Calculus Honors (5 credit hours) and Pre Calculus Honors (5 credit hours). Next year will be the first year that students may enroll in Pre Calculus Honors as a dual credit class. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students at LHS.

 

The target population for each course is as follows:


 

          College Algebra Honors (Math 1150): This is a transfer level course designed for students who need a College Algebra course to satisfy a liberal arts requirement. The course is a study of relations, functions and their graphs, equations and inequalities, polynomial and rational functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, systems of equations and inequalities.

 

          Pre Calculus Honors (Math 1410): This course is designed to prepare students who will take a Calculus course. The course is a review of algebra, algebra of functions, polynomial and rational functions, and exponential and logarithmic functions. Trigonometry functions, graphs, inverses, equations, identities, and applications.

 

          Advanced Calculus Honors (Math 1600): This course is designed for students who will major in engineering, mathematics, and/or science. The course is a study of analytic geometry and single variable calculus. Topics include limits, continuity, derivatives, applications of derivatives, integrals, and applications of integrals.
