English 1 students at LHS studied poetry during the 3rd Quarter. Students studied great poets such as Walt Whitman and Robert Frost. They also read two poems by Edgar Allan Poe, “The Raven” and “Annabel Lee.” Students learned to identify rhyme scheme, internal rhyme, repetition, alliteration, consonance, assonance, metaphor, simile, imagery and more in these poems. It has been wonderful to see students tap into their creative side and write a couple poems of their own as well! See their “Book Spine” poems in the photos below – these were done at the LHS Library.
