In Spanish 3 we are learning about “Día de los Muertos” or Day of the Death, which is celebrated on November 2. This Celebration is a tradition in some Hispanic countries including Mexico and Guatemala. Students colored some skulls and wrote poems in the back about death. They also learned that during this day people go to cemeteries to visit their loved ones and they bring food and beverages that the dead person enjoyed eating and drinking when alive. Students will also watch a documentary about “Día de los Muertos” from a small village in Mexico.

Finally, students will decorate the poster board with their colored skulls to promote cultural awareness to other students in the school about this interesting celebration in the Hispanic world.
