In 20th Century U.S. History, we have begun examining the Cold War and how it shaped the country’s decision making following WWII. The Cold War can be defined as a state of economic, diplomatic, and ideological discord among nations without armed conflict after World War II. In this unit we are learning about the Soviet Union developing nuclear weapons, the split between Western and Eastern Europe, and the Korean War. Going forward we will begin investigating the changes American Culture underwent in the 1950’s.

In this unit students will be conducting research on different aspects of 1950s culture including music, movies and books. They will also be researching major cultural events of the 50’s. They will then combine this information into a presentation that they will present to their peers..
