From ‘fake’ journal entries to personal narratives, psychology students recently wrote a creative passage about their ‘addiction’ to ice cubes. In the pretend scenario, students were to imagine that their drug of choice is ice, as water is not satisfying enough. In addition, ice is considered socially unacceptable and illegal.

Students wrote about how the addiction developed and what lured them into such actions that resulted them in betraying others, their families, and even themselves. Addictions are a condition in which a person engages in the use of a substance or in a behavior for which the rewarding effects provide an incentive to repeatedly pursue the behavior despite consequences. The class discussed not just drug addictions but other behaviors that become addictive to people.
