With National Athletic Training month just around the corner, introduction to athletic training students are continuing to learn about what it is athletic trainers do on a day-to-day basis, and why it is such a great profession. Students have spent the last few weeks learning about different injuries that are common to the lower body. In order to fully understand these injuries, students must learn the anatomy, common mechanisms of these injuries, and how to treat/rehabilitate them. At the conclusion of this unit, we will begin our concussion unit. With concussions being at the forefront of today’s research, this is a very important unit, and a great one to begin March and National Athletic Training month with. In order to recognize this month, students in the introduction to athletic training class will be working with other students to create a video to support the initiative set out by the Nebraska State Athletic Trainer Association to promote National Athletic Training month.
