Mr. Pack’s Applied Science Class

Our Applied Science students completed a paper airplane lab where students tested the performance of different types of paper airplanes.  At the end of the lab, students had to present their results to the class.  Here are some pictures of students conducting their lab.  Further, here are some of the presentation tips that students used to create their lab.

10 Tips for a Great Paper Airplane Presentation

Presenting on paper airplanes. Make sure your slides soar! Here are some quick tips to help you keep your audience engaged and interested:

1. Keep It Simple

Focus on one topic per slide—like “lift” or “thrust”—to avoid overcrowding and confusion.

2. Add Relevant Visuals

Images of paper airplanes or diagrams of aerodynamics can reinforce your points. Let visuals do the heavy lifting.

3. Limit Text

Use short phrases like “drag slows speed” instead of paragraphs. Keep it concise so your audience stays focused on you.

4. Use Easy-to-Read Fonts

Choose simple fonts like Arial, with at least 24-point size, so everyone can read your slide at a glance.

5. Consistent Colors and Layout

Pick a few colors (blue for sky, white for planes) and stick with a simple layout to keep your slides looking polished.

6. Highlight Key Terms

Use bold text to emphasize terms like “aerodynamics” or “wing span” so they stand out.

7. Limit Animations

Avoid overusing animations. A simple fade works best to keep focus on the content, not the effects.

8. Engaging Start and Finish

Start with an intriguing fact about paper airplanes, and end with a strong conclusion or call to action.

9. Practice Your Flow

Rehearse to make sure you’re comfortable with the slide transitions and content.

10. Invite Questions

End with a Q&A slide to welcome questions and wrap up your presentation smoothly.
