On Friday the Lexington art students represented Lexington well. Freshman, Viviana Gonzalez, received a second place medal in ceramics. Junior, Cooper Madrigal, also finished second, for their digital artwork. Senior, Angie Melo, was judges choice for a mixed media portrait. Senior, Brianna Zarate, won best in show, with her acrylic painting.
Lexington had three teams in the paint-in portion of the competition. Two out of the three brought hardware home. Honorable mention was awarded to Viviana Gonzalez, Grace Goodwin, Andrea Kelly, Amber Hecht and Jeny Rose Era for their painting of butterflies as the Ukrainian flag. Madison Fitzgerald, Saidi Ringenberg, Mayra Ticas, Marcia Ticas and Margarita Lucero and Adrianna Hendricks took home second place, with their painting of a seagull. All three paintings are hanging by the activities photos in the cafeteria. The theme was “Conflict and Adversity.”
