Students in English 1 CT finished reading the final novel of the year this week, Lord of the Flies. The book by William Golding was written in 1954 and focuses on themes like savagery vs. civilization, good and evil, and the potential for all people to have a little bit of something bad inside of them. The freshmen listened to the audio book while doing different study guides, quizzes, and vocabulary. They were able to complete a test review that was a digital escape room, which they seemed to enjoy. They were asked to complete a bingo card, matching game with quotations, vocabulary matching, a crossword puzzle, and an actual puzzle in order to solve clues and “escape” from the room to save Ralph from Jack and his tribe. The students had a lot of fun while staying engaged with the test review materials. Best of luck to students on their end of year finals!
