First year students have been working on the following in the shop: tap bolt holes, precision measuring, replacing tires, balancing tires, packing wheel bearings, and also learning about electricity and ohm’s law. They went through small engines by disassembling and reassembling them and making sure they would start and run after the process. The students are continuing to be taught how engines work.
Second year students have completed the electricity course, disassembled manual transmissions and learned how they operate. Students have replaced an internal clutch master cylinder in a Ford truck. They are currently studying drivetrains, learning the differences between front-wheel drive, four-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. Plus they have worked on many projects in the shop reviewing what they learned last year and practicing new skills acquired this year.
