The Lexington One Act students concluded their season with a 4th place finish at districts. They performed an adaptation of Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol by Tom Smith through Youth Plays.

For some of the students, this was a first time experience with the classic tale of a changing heart. Soon, they were talking to each other about different videos of the play and comparing what they liked and didn’t like about the characters.

Our season experienced the uncertainty of even being able to perform, restrictions of assembly, and learning to project through masks. In spite of all these, the students did well. We learned to be fluid and adapt to changes, even when we had to cover parts at competitions due to quarantine issues. We are grateful to those who put in the extra time to learn another role so we could compete.

We also want to express our gratitude to those who were not able to travel due to restrictions, yet still came to help with costuming and hair before we left. I appreciate their example of dedication.

Several students earned acting awards from the three competitions we attended.
