A week before graduation the question was asked, “Can graduation be streamed?” Two enthusiastic and tech-savvy photography students juniors, Maddy Armstrong, and Hodan Kamil took on the task. With the help of their classmate Evelynn Ivey-Chambers, the pair practiced getting just the right camera angles and switching the transitions three times in an otherwise empty gym.
With the help of Arturo Banderas, a Systems Admin & Senior Tech Specialist and LHS Band Directors Chad Scharff and Spencer Hansen, the students could use the audio from the microphone on stage to ensure balanced sound and a hardwire internet connection for a consistent stream. With their meticulous practice and unwavering determination Armstrong and Kamil showcased the power of technology, connecting its 430 viewers to the in-person commencement ceremony.
