Cecilia Perales is the Spanish teacher at Lexington Middle School.  When asked what she enjoys most about LPS, Cecilia shares that she has enjoyed the support she has received from LPS to help immerse students in the culture and language of Latin America in order to understand traditions, folklore, values, and mannerisms.  Cecilia loves to read books with her Spanish classes where some of her students can closely relate to the families in the books.  She describes how amazing it is to witness her students sharing with their peers about their experiences that are similar to those families from the books.   Cecilia is also appreciative of the support she has received from Mr. West while planning to host the first “Spanish Cultural Night” at LMS.  Students will have the opportunity to showcase projects inspired by the novels read in class, to their parents and family members.

When not at school, Cecilia enjoys spending time with her family.  Whether it is sharing meals with her parents, watching her nephew play soccer, or helping her sisters with anything they need, spending time with them is a big part of her life.  Cecilia wishes to acknowledge the huge amount of support she receives from her parents and the sacrifices they have made to help her get where she is today.  

When we asked Cecilia what she would say to inspire gratitude in others she wanted to share a quote she lives by, “At times, our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” Cecilia feels gratitude towards her students as she explains they are the reason why she comes to work everyday!  Congratulations, Cecilia!  LPS appreciates all you do, and we are proud of you!
