Feel Good Friday: LPS Staff Shout Out

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY WINNER FOR MAY 6, 2022 WAS MARILUZ BAEZ

Mariluz Baez is a paraeducator in the Special Education Department at Lexington High School. She was nominated by her colleagues, Samantha Hammond, Amber Burson, and Erica Brockmoller for her contagious positivity, devotion to students, and her ability to make others smile! Each morning, Mariluz is in charge of holding the mass of high school students in the lunchroom until 7:45am. Every day, Mariluz shares her big smile with the students, and in a booming voice tells them to have a great day, or make today a positive one, etc.

Whenever you meet Mariluz, you can see that she leads by example. She is always upbeat, and even took the time to make signs for the seniors to welcome them to their last full week if High School. Mariluz spreads her amazing attitude to everyone she meets which allows the students to start their day off on the right foot. She is definitely a light in the hallways of LHS.

We asked Mariluz what she enjoys most about LPS, and she said, “I love helping and supporting our students in any way possible, because life is hard.” When she isn’t working, Mariluz enjoys bonding with her family by cooking and listening to music. She shares that they love to enjoy each other’s creativity, and company.

When we asked Mariluz what she would like to say to inspire gratitude in others, she said, “Compassion and kindness can be contagious, and we are all attracted to it. A kind smile, and a positive attitude can brighten someone’s day.” We couldn’t agree more, Mariluz. Thank you for modeling that for all of us! You absolutely make a difference!

What are feel good Fridays?

Feel Good Fridays are celebrated the first and third Friday of every month where one staff member of LPS is recognized for their hard work and dedication they provide to the district. All staff members have the opportunity to nominate their colleagues in the days before the drawing.  All nominations are entered into a random drawing and one staff member is selected to be the spotlight for that week. Our winner receives a bouquet sponsored by Plum Creek Market Place Floral Department and a gift card donated by USave Pharmacy and Gifts.  It is our hope through spreading kindness and an attitude of gratitude we will continue to strengthen a positive culture at LPS.
