Feel Good Friday: LPS Staff Shout Out

feel good friday winner for february 11, 2022 was bertha laguna

Bertha Laguna is a paraprofessional at Morton Elementary, and was nominated for a staff shout out by Megan Vonasek for being an incredible paraeducator. Ms. Laguna is dedicated to her job, and can be depended upon to help, and do whatever is asked of her. Her ability to help students learn has earned her an LPS Shout Out!

When asked what she enjoys most about LPS, Ms. Laguna says that she really enjoys working with her coworkers and students. She loves the opportunity to help kids learn in any way she can. She finds it very rewarding to be able to see the growth her students make every day, and it brings a smile to her face!

When Ms. Laguna is not supporting students, she loves cooking and watching movies. She is the second to the youngest of 6 children in her family. When asked what she would like to say to inspire gratitude in others, she said, “Be respectful. Maintain standards of etiquette in your day-to-day interactions with strangers. Just because you don’t know them, it doesn’t mean you should withhold the common courtesy you expect for yourself. Hold the door open, respect people’s space, and be mindful of how your actions impact others.”

We couldn’t agree more, Ms. Laguna! We are proud to have you on our LPS team, and we appreciate the difference you are making at Morton each and every day! Congratulations!

What are feel good Fridays?

Feel Good Fridays are celebrated the first and third Friday of every month where one staff member of LPS is recognized for their hard work and dedication they provide to the district. All staff members have the opportunity to nominate their colleagues in the days before the drawing.  All nominations are entered into a random drawing and one staff member is selected to be the spotlight for that week. Our winner receives a bouquet sponsored by Plum Creek Market Place Floral Department and a gift card donated by USave Pharmacy and Gifts.  It is our hope through spreading kindness and an attitude of gratitude we will continue to strengthen a positive culture at LPS.
