Students in English 3 CT with Mrs. Gruntorad and Mrs. Benson just finished reading the novel The Great Gatsby. The Great Gatsby is by author F. Scott Fitzgerald and is set during the 1920s. Students began the unit by learning more about both the author’s own life and the Roaring 20s which both heavily influenced the text. About half way through the reading, students wrote an essay about the symbolism in the novel. The symbols are very obvious and students did a great job explaining the ideas that they represent. After wrapping up the novel, students began on a Globe Project. They are currently finishing up this project which includes making a twelve-sided 3-D object that describes multiple aspects of the novel. We are excited to see how they turn out.
