Sandoz 2012-2013 Reading Rally!

            As October inches its way here, we are gearing up to help make our kids better readers. October brings us the Bookfair, Book-It, and chilly weather, good for curling up with a book. Last week a group of Teachers met and decided to set the Sandoz Reading Goal for 2012-13. Many ideas we tossed around about how to keep track of our student’s reading, what criteria we wanted to use to determine our goal, and what kind of rewards and motivation would be used to encourage our kids. 1)   Our Reading Goal for 2012-13 will be 15,000 Books by May, 6,000 Books by December.

2)   We are counting the number of books read. This includes teacher/parent read-Alouds. 

3)   Encouragement & Motivation:

1)   We are going to have the Book-it Pizzas delivered

2)   We are planning on having a Celebration in December & one in May

We will begin recording our book totals on Oct. 1^st

Sandoz staff understands the importance of reading and has challenged the students to read 6,000 books by December. If they obtain this goal the following staff members will have to eat chocolate covered bugs and worms.

We also have an end of the year goal of 15,000 books. If students obtain this goal these staff members will get pies in the face.

Also at each reading rally top reading students will be entered to win prizes. Encourage your student to read and read with them. All books count! Help them record their book titles and strive for the target. Lets make it a radiant reading year!
