Resolutions and Responsibility
January 27, 2016
The New Year of 2016 has begun --- did you make any resolutions? As a student, perhaps your goal was to get higher grades or become more skilled at your favorite sport. There are also those “traditional” resolutions of losing weight, becoming more fit or spending more time with family and friends. According to the dictionary, a resolution is “a firm decision to do or not to do something.” While setting a goal is an important first step to keeping that resolution, it is also essential that the individual look at the process and responsibility of how to reach that goal. It requires hard work and perseverance. Are you making that process?
Closely related to the idea of resolutions are the dreams that we have for our lives. While walking through the school hallway this week, there was a sign that read “Dreams work when you do.” In other words, if you are going to reach that goal/resolution/dream, you are going to have to put forth the effort to get to there. It might require some sacrifices or spending less time on some electronics. Whatever your resolution or dream might be, keep it in mind and do the work to make it work!!!
