Problem Solving

December 19, 2017

Eighth graders have been busy solving systems of equations for the last several weeks.  We've used many different methods including graphing, substitution and elimination.  We have solved some real world problems this way.  Give it a try...

A man and his 3 children spent $40 to attend a show.  A second family of three children and their two parents spent $53 for the same show.  How much does a child's ticket cost?  How much does an adult ticket cost?

a + 3c = 40
2a + 3c = 53

After break, we will working our way into some geometry skills.
