Patriot’s Pen Patriotic Writing Contest

October 1, 2014

Has your student ever complained about not getting paid for their hard work?  It’s time to make them eat their words!  Patriot’s Pen is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.  Conducted nationwide, this VFW sponsored youth essay competition gives students an opportunity to write essays expressing their views on democracy. Last year, more than 104,000 students participated in the contest.  The top 46 national winners all receive at least $500.  Lexington Middle School winners, 1st-3rd place, will receive a cash reward at our Veteran’s Day celebration on November 11th.  This year’s theme is “Why I Appreciate America’s Veterans.”  Entry forms can be picked up in room 311 and are due to Mrs. Ringenberg by October 29.
