English I CT

February 23, 2018

Students in English I CT are enjoying reading Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird.  Students began the unit with an in depth look at the Jim Crow South.  They studied the history of the time period, learned about Jim Crow laws, and studied court cases that influenced the author.  While reading, students are learning about topics such as innocence, racism, intolerance, and coming of age.  As we read, students are discovering why this novel has become a timeless classic!
