Business Math

September 21, 2017

Lexington High School’s Business Math class is very fortunate to have the Banzai curriculum that was awarded Curriculum of the Year by the Institute for Financial Literacy. More than 10,000 schools in all 50 states use the Banzai curriculum. The Business Math class is afforded this opportunity thanks to Pinnacle Bank being a sponsor and providing it to the high school free of charge.

The curriculum consists of 30 “Life Scenarios.” Students follow the life of a recently graduated high school student. The scenarios include: holding a job, working long hours, and finding a way to handle what life sends their way.  Some of the concepts are:  Gross income versus net income, Job trade-offs, Surprise income, Renting versus buying, Monthly expenses, Obtaining an auto loan, Various insurance, and Earning interest or paying interest.

The monitor shows what the

interactive website looks like.

Students use their booklet to

    complete the scenarios.
