Genetics Project

April 25, 2012

What would you do if you and your spouse were expecting a child with a genetic disorder? What would you do if you knew that your children had a 50% chance of being born with a disorder? These are the questions that some parents are going to ask every day. Mr. Zarate's biology students are going to research certain disorders to make these decisions. To make it as real as possible students were "married" to each other in class. These couples are placed into a situation where they have to research disorders and then make a decision about their future. They are also told their yearly salary and insurance to add to the decision making process. Students will be creating posters to help you understand their situation and decisions. Look for them in the halls.
