English 1-Endeavor Researches Human Trafficking

April 7, 2014

According to U.S. Department of State, over 27 million people live in forms of modern-day slavery, known also as human trafficking, and includes over 60,000 in the United States.  Modern-day slaves are falsely promised ways out of poverty and means to better their lives.  This is an example of some of the information being processed by students in Endeavor-English 1.  The Endeavor-English 1 students are conducting group research on human trafficking to identify the cause and effects of the current practice.  In the process students are reinforcing their skills of creating note cards using the Write Tools method and learning to find credible sources through the use of data bases such as EBSCO.  Eventually each student will write his or her own research paper from the group-collected information.
