ACT Time

ACT Time:

The ACT is a college entrance test that needs to be taken by any student planning to attend a 4-year college.  These are colleges like UN-K, UN-L, UN-O, Chadron, Creighton, Doane, Hastings College, etc.  Those students planning to attend a Community College will need to take a different college placement exam called the COMPASS or ASSET test.

4- year colleges require the student take the ACT before being considered for admission.  Certain colleges require certain scores on the ACT for guaranteed admission.  The test consists of four sections:  English, Math, Science Reasoning and Reading.  This test is timed.  The highest possible composite score is a 36.

The fall ACT will be given in Lexington on October 27, 2012 beginning at 8:00 am.  Registration deadline is September 21st.  Registration is done online and your Counselor will help you if you need it.  This is an important test date for seniors planning on attending a 4-year college as this is traditionally the last chance before admissions deadlines and for scholarships.  Lexington gives the ACT again in April which is traditionally the first time for testing Juniors who wish to practice taking the test.  Other test dates are available in Kearney and Cozad and other surrounding communities.

Seniors are encouraged to register now for the October ACT.  It is possible to get a fee waiver for some students so check with your Counselor.  No college in Nebraska or the surrounding states require the newer ACT With Writing, so it is not necessary to register for that one.  If you have any questions about the ACT, please see your Counselor.  There are materials and websites available to help you prepare for the test.
