Computer Back-Up

The Lexington Public Schools' Technology Department strongly encourages all teachers to make regular back ups of their data on some kind of an external device. Your data is stored on the school's data server however it is highly recommended that you back up data to a secondary location. Every summer your school issued laptop is completely erased and updated for the new school year. During this process it is possible that data can be lost and being prepared with an additional back-up ensures that none of your digital content is lost.

Owning your own external data device is extremely valuable in today's world. Making regular and continuous back-ups of your own data ensures that you will always have access to these vital pieces of information. The Technology Department is willing to assist you with backing up your digital content, please schedule this assistance PRIOR to the day of turning your laptop in for summer updates. External hard drives are an excellent and reliable choice for backing up your data in one location. Below is a list of recommendations for external devices that can be purchased:
