2015 Hispanic Heritage Month Essay Winner

Congratulations to Hillary Carillo who has won first place in the 2015 Hispanic Heritage Month essay contest!

Hillary's essay was chosen first among 179 essays submitted in the high school category from around the state.

Hillary will be honored at the State Capitol on Friday, Oct. 9. She will read her winning essay at the Latino American Commission's commemoration, and then her essay will be published on every McDonald's tray liner in the state during Hispanic Heritage month.

In addition, Hillary will receive a Kindle, a certificate and medal, a $150 scholarship, and a McDonald's gift card worth $25.
