Lexington ASIST formed

December 13, 2010

The goal of the Nebraska District ASD Leadership Training is to provide training to school districts across the state so that every student with ASD can access high quality, evidenced based educational services.

In the Spring of 2010 Lexington Public Schools filled out an application to be chosen for the training and in May of 2010 we found out we were chosen.  There are currently 5 schools in the state going through the training.

As part of the training we have formed Lexington ASIST.  (Autism Spectrum Information and Support Team) Team members are: Theresa McFarland, Lori Pflaster, Kellie Cetak, Irma Morales, Erin Haines, Jerry Bergstrom, Barry McFarland, Sara Oberg, Robin Einspahr, Ashley Carrier, and Maureen McElhinny.

We are currently working on a plan to increase awareness and assist our school staff in providing quality services to students with autism.  One goal of that plan is "The Autism Minute".  Information will be sent out to all Lexington Public Schools staff relating to autism periodically throughout the school year.
